![]() ![]() If you have better cards/troop you are probably more than willing to make that initial investment atleast. And after receiving your cards or army you have to decide whether or not you are committing your troops I mean cards with the ante. To go to war at all (even before actual battle) you have to invest resources from your war chest, which as we mentioned before is evoked by your chips. A brilliant general still might have nothing but raw poorly equipped troops (low cards) or might have professional crack troops (high cards). You dont have real control over what you get but sometimes that is life too. These can be seen as your forces for a battle. It can be thought of as evocative as lots of things relating to war.Īt the start of a hand you get two cards. If we stop and think about this it is very evocative of your resources for war. So each player starts with a set number of chips/money/whatever you want to call it. So start by walking through how the game functions bit by bit and see what parallels we can draw to war from it. So if you actually think about how the game of Texas Hold'Em (maybe more types of poker too, but just focusing on this one) plays and what actions you are taking as a player and you can actually draw a lot of interesting parallels to the decisions a commander has to make in war. A bit out there on first glance but stay with me a second and have an open mind and its actually an interesting question. So had a fun shower thought/philosophical musing yesterday. ![]()
